Lay It Down (for Patrice)

July, 2006 Pop/rock My newest song! Written for my wife Patrice for our 14th anniversary. I worked on it longer than I normally do. I was a real perfectionist. Note: The song is 8 minutes long.

Peppermint Patty

May, 2006 Novelty A silly song about the Charlie Brown character. Not a brilliant opus, but hey, it was a Songfight winner! Thanks to all who voted for it!

MY MOST POPULAR SONGS

Not necessarily my quote-unquote "best" work, but these seem to be the songs that people like best, so I'm going out on a limb and guessing you are either here to find one of these, or if you're just exploring you will like them because many others have.

Welcome to Windows

December, 2005 Classical / novelty Using the default start-up, shut-down and various other sounds from Microsoft Windows XP, I put together this piano piece. Songfight winner!

Everybody Now

March, 2005 Pop/rock Part of my Ants (Invisible) experiment, where I decided to try my hand at a more conventional pop/rock style, while not letting myself get boring. This is my favorite A(I) track. Songfight winner! Submitted under band name: Ants (Invisible)

We Are All Famous

February, 2005 Pop/rock This is the first Ants (Invisible) song that I thought was pretty much a success. The lyrics echo my assertion that Andy Warhol's 15 minutes of fame quote is no longer true. Songfight winner! Submitted under band name: Ants (Invisible)

Gin or Ginseng

August, 2004 Pop Quite proud of this one. At first seems to be wimpy bubble-gum pop, but you see, that's the point. Close 2nd place on Songfight, though the actual winner cheated.

One Beautiful Summer

May, 2005 Alternative Never a big hit, but a personal favorite of my songs, and I put it on the main page here because I want people to hear it.

Wichita Lineman (Whip It)

2004 Pop/novelty A simultaneous cover of two songs. A critical, popular and personal success. Coverfight winner (Coverfight is a side project by the Songfight folks)

The Starfinger Show

2004 Novelty A theme song written for a fellow songfighter. I wanted to mimic an actual TV variety show theme. A few in-jokes in there, but not enough to matter.

Gonna Be Your Man

July, 2003 Lounge It's a few years old now, but people still like this one. I've pretty much abandoned this more literal theatre style. (Too much work.) My first Songfight entry.

The Uvula Song

1997 Children's / Novelty A lounge parody. It was supposed to be sung by Bill Murray. The guy who did it sang "I Feel Pretty" for his audition. Always a big favorite among people who know my stuff.
