About Me
|
|
Pretty self-explanatory. Children's music, originally
written for any of a number of different reasons.
MADI OWEN, MY DAUGHTER
These are songs either written by or featuring Madi.

January, 2004 |
Mostly written by Madi at age 7. I only did the arrangement and
chord progression. She is also playing the spooky violin in the
spoken middle section.

October, 2004 |
This one is almost entirely Madi's doing, age 8. I was basically
just the engineer and the guest vocalist.

The idea was to compose an arrangement to Madi's vocals the
way she actually sung them as opposed to the way they really
go. Very successful, I think, and totally adorable. She is 2 or
3 in these recordings. |

NIGHTMARE NED
These songs were written for "Nightmare Ned", a PC video
game by Disney Interactive. It was a terrific game, and I
had a total blast doing these songs. Probably the most fun I
ever had writing music. I'm proud of all four of these.

1997 |
A lounge parody. It was supposed to be sung by Bill Murray. The
guy who did it sang "I Feel Pretty" for his audition. Always a
big favorite among people who know my stuff. |
|
|
1997 |
A patter song sung by an insane grade school math teacher. The
finished product was completely realized in my estimation. |

|
1997 |
In this level of the game, the object was jump along a series of
half-filled bathtubs floating in mid-air. As you did so, rats
crawled around in the pipes above you and threw electrical
appliances down to try to electrocute you. The rats sung this
song as they did so. How cool is that? What an assignment. |

1997 |
The main character sees himself in three magic mirrors that
reflect future versions of himself. The reflections each sing a
verse of this song. |
MOLBAK'S NURSERY
Molbak's Nursery in Woodinville, WA produces a children's
fairy tale every fall which is performed at the nursery
itself. BJ Douglas writes and directs the shows, which are
hilarious and hip. I've been doing music and sound for them
since 1998. My favorite part is writing the theme song. The
songs below are the theme songs from these shows. All
instrumentals, all but one is under one minute in length.

1998 |
My first Molbak's theme and probably still my favorite. A parody
of Chinese stereotypes. |
|
|
1999 |
Influenced by Raymond Scott, who wrote a lot of music used in
Bugs Bunny cartoons. |

Trying to do Bacharach. |

2003 |
Think "Deliverance". The was my first attempt at a
stream-of-consciousness style which have since explored more
with other pieces. |
|
|
2004 |
The melody is 12-tone!. I set out to try and compose a
consonant, accessible piece using only 12-tone rows. You be the
judge. |
|
|
2005 |
Trying to do Beethoven. My synth isn't quite up to the
orchestral sounds necessary, but nice anyway. |
